Hermès Releases the Date Code for Its Luxury Designer Items Produced in 2025

Did you know that Hermès uses a Date Stamp that features a unique serial number, which always begins with a letter, also known as “a craftsman mark”? The letter indicates the year the bag was produced, and is not to be confused with the date the bag was sold. Each year, Hermès collectors, authenticators, sellers, and beyond eagerly await the release of the new letter date stamp. The new 2025 Hermès Date Stamp has been spotted and confirmed to be the letter: “K”.

The Details about the Hermès Date Stamp

Date Stamps are key items that expert authenticators examine when evaluating an Hermès luxury item’s authenticity. These markings are typically located discreetly within the item, such as on the back of a strap, inside a gusset, or within the cash slot of a wallet lining.

Previously, Hermès followed the alphabetical order each year. The last time the letter “K” was used was in 1955. From 1945 to 1970 and from 1971 and 1996, Hermès followed the alphabet in order, adding a circle around each letter from 1971 and 1996 to distinguish between the previous years.

From 1997 to 2014, Hermès continued to follow the alphabet from the letters A to R paired with a square around each letter; however, in 2015, Hermès started using a letter out of order to prevent counterfeit bag manufacturers from anticipating each year’s letter. Early 2014 blind stamps did feature the square, while it is also known that late 2014 blind stamps did not feature the surrounding square. In 2016 it is also important to note that the date stamp on the Birkin and Kelly styles is moved to the inner gusset.
